What I gained the most by learning English at ECC is the confidence to
talk to foreigners. Do you think you can talk to foreigners only by learning
English at school? I think that it is impossible, because you do not have
enough opportunities to express your own feelings only in schools. ECC
always gives us chances to think about the topic and express our own ideas.
If we cannot come up with any ideas, the teachers always give us hints
and guide us how to think about the topic. By doing this every week, you
will get used to expressing your own opinion. Of course it is easier to
speak in your mother tongue, but you cannot communicate with people around
the world in Japanese. Being able to communicate in English broadens your
views and opportunities.
M.N.さん(高3女子)
I went to the U.S. to study English when I was 14 and 15. I was so worried
about my English because I thought I was not good at English. However,
the ECC teachers supported me so I could become more confident. After I
came back from the U.S., I came to like English. In the future, I would
like to work not only in Japan but also in foreign countries. What I learned
in ECC will be a treasure for the rest of my life.
E.K.さん(高3男子)
Looking back at my memories at ECC, it reminds me of many things I learned,
but what I learned the most is the English skill. If I had not learned
English at ECC, I could not have used English when I talked to foreigners.
To be honest, I still cannot speak English well. However, if I had not
learned English at ECC, my English skill would have been worse. So, I am
very grateful for ECC. Also, as I have come to be interested in foreign
countries since I started studying English, I decided to study abroad.
In other words, studying English at ECC lead me to study abroad. I learned
a lot of things during my two weeks in the U.S. Therefore, I would like
to thank my teachers for teaching me. Hopefully, I would like to talk to
people from all over the world.
A.N.さん(大2女子)
I think that speech contest was the best experience. I joined for the first
time when I was in third grade in junior high school. I practiced very
hard every day. I learned how to put my feelings into words. My English
skill has definitely improved. English is a very important communication
tool. Persistence will pay off!
